Common hair mistakes we are all making

Hair is a big part of many people's lives. However, it's easy to make some common hair mistakes that can damage your hair or make it look less than stellar. Here are some common hair mistakes to avoid:

You’re Washing Your Hair Too Often

In the same way that washing your face too much will dry out your skin and hair, frequent shampooing can be bad for your hair. Why? Shampoos contain detergents that remove oils from your scalp and hair. While this works well if your hair is dirty, it strips away natural oils that are crucial to keep your hair healthy. Shampoos also contain sulfates that can dry out your hair and scalp. You should shampoo your hair only when it's necessary, which is usually once every 2-3 days. If you use a detergent-free shampoo, you'll still get the same clean feeling without drying out your hair!

You’re Neglecting Your Scalp

If you are neglecting your scalp, then you're making a big mistake. The pores and hair follicles of your hat can easily get clogged and that can lead to hair loss, negative effects on your scalp or even dandruff! To prevent all these issues the best thing you can do is to clean your hair regularly. There are a couple ways to do it, but you should use an anti-fungal shampoo. This type of shampoo is great because it will prevent dandruff. It will also help to prevent your scalp from getting itchy or infected. This can reduce the likelihood that you will scratch your scalp and make small cuts, which can lead to hair loss.

Not Using Heat Protectant

Not using a heat protectant before blow drying your hair is a common mistake that is also quite possibly the biggest mistake you are making! There are a number of different benefits of using heat protectant. For starters, heat protectant can protect the hair from drying out. But the biggest reason to use it is because it will help protect the hair from getting damaged! Using heat protectant, particularly before blow drying, will help keep the hair from becoming damaged, breaking or in any way getting hurt! The longer you use heat on your hair, the more likely you are to cause damage. So, if you're looking to protect your hair and want to keep it long and healthy, using heat protectant is a must!

You Wash Your Hair In Hot Water

Did you know that the hot water coming out of your faucet has bacteria and metals in it? These aren't necessarily dangerous, but if you're washing your hair in hot water it could damage it and make it more prone to split ends and breakage. It is much better to warm water up to your ideal temperature before you wash your hair. This can save your hair from a lot of breakage. You might be thinking "Wouldn't it be better to wash in cold water? Wouldn't that help my hair?" but the answer is no. Cold water can actually cause your strands to shrink and give you a headache. The best practice is to use warm water.
